I have been using this set on my lawns for the past 5-6 years. So easy for my to use
Overall, I'm happy with this product, but I have some reservations. First, the way the motor automatically powers up and down according to grass length is really annoying. I'd much prefer to have a manual throttle. It takes a couple of seconds to throttle up, and since it can't see how long the grass is, it doesn't know whether to go to full power or 75% power. I know this is a feature to make the batteries last longer, but I've found it very annoying since the west lawn, which is almost an acre, is patchy in terms of thick grass. Also, since the throttle up isn't immediate, when I hit thick grass I have to stop, wait for it to power up, then continue. If I don't, over half of the time it stalls. As others have mentioned, the height settings aren't fine enough. There needs to be a 1.5 and 2.5 setting, as 3 is often too high, and 1 is too low. Finally, I was unpleasantly surprised at how quickly the metal finish gets damaged by something as simple as cable rub. I love having a nice-looking power, and am being careful not to scratch it as much as is practical. So, to have an obvious paint rub, almost all the way to the base metal, after less than 20 hours of operation is disappointing. Finally, this is a heavy mower. I don't carry around the second battery in the carry compartment, as the metal chassis effectively makes this almost as heavy as the standard petrol power I stopped using in favour of this. Finally, while the mower can definitely handle quite long, thick grass (at the cost of battery life, of course), it doesn't like wet or "juicy" grass. That doesn't mean it won't cut it, but I find it struggles to throw it into the catcher properly in its low-power mode, and in high-power mode the grass very quickly accumulates on the underside of the chassis, requiring frequent stops to remove. All that said, this is still one of the best mowers I've used, petrol or battery, and its price point is very good. Even just adding a manual throttle would put it to a 5 star, but the finer height control would make it a sold 5. The flexibility to mow at steep angles is a real bonus for those like me who have hilly lawns to mow. The quiet engine means I don't have to wear ear muffs, and not having to pull-start the engine makes my sore shoulders very happy. The catcher is a good side and light, although on balance I must say I prefer hard shell catchers since they make less dust, are easier to clean, and I think they assist mowers in "sucking" the grass into the catcher. Note that I haven't used the line trimmer yet, but it feels a lot heavier than I was anticipating, so I'm not sure how much of a bump up from our petrol one it will be, other than it won't be so noisy and smelly, and I won't kill my shoulder trying to start it. Given the general quality and effectiveness of the mower, I'm anticipating the trimmer will be "OK".
Having previously owned greenworks 60v gear- which is fantastic bit of kit highly recommend. I've downsized house and this smaller lighter unit model is good. Suitable for light duties and light grass as it does struggle with taller thicker grass when I tried it on the overgrown council strip. The 4amph battery lasts long enough to do front and backyards of reasonable size. Plastic body is fine, keeps lightweight and you don't have to worry about it rusting away after a few years. The line trimmer isnt the greatest, especially compared to the 60v line trimmer which is fantastic. It doesn't have much balls and uses thin maybe 1.5mm line. But it does the job. I also bought with another battery as you won't be able to do line trimmer and mow of medium size front and rear yard on the one battery.
Work well! very happy with the Line Trimmer especially.
I was skeptical, but I was desperate for a lawn mower and trimmer. It's so light, way quieter than a petrol run mower and it's easy to clean and ready for the next use. I'm the mama that's in charge of the yard work... because I enjoy it now.
I've done my lawn twice with these now and I'm pretty happy with them. The mower is light, easy to use, and does a nice job of mowing the lawn and mulching the clippings. One battery seems to do my house lawn although I'll see how it goes when the grass isn't perfectly dry. The trimmer is very good and I was pleasantly surprised by how much more powerful it was than the 18v trimmer it replaced.
This is my first electric mower, and I found this to be very easy to use, and the results are great! highly recommended!
I brought this mower, a single 4.0AH Kit battery and the line trimer. Was amazed at how well it cut the grass & how quiet it is. My lawn was jsu a little large so a brought a replacement battery and i'm loving it. Can now mow all the lawn and trim the edges with battery to spare. Honestly folks, if you can afford then just buy it. Mowing the lawn is something i look forward to doing now :-)
Been looking at electric lawnmowers for a while and Greenworks stood out for me. Especially the 40V battery which I got two. Lawnmower did the job and strimmer was great, Will be buying more from Trade Tested. Have already recommended to a work friend.
We really love most aspects of this lawnmower, it is light, it is not too noisy and there is no handling and storing of petrol. However, we have a great deal of established Kikuyu grass on our section and the mower struggles a bit with it. We find the blade is set so high above the casing that if you set it on the lowest cutting blade the casing drags on the ground and tears up the grass. We need to cut the kikuyu low otherwise it becomes like a spongy mat and becomes very hard to mow in the winter time. So far we have had to get the grass cut down low with the old petrol mower and then maintain it with the new one. This means we will have to be really onto it and not miss a mowing, otherwise we will have to keep the petrol mower in order to bring the level down again. I would recommend this product if you have nice easy to mow grass. The battery life is great, we have 900 m sq property and the battery lasts for the entire mowing.
