Love it

This is a great saw for the home handy ma'am. It's the second one I bought as my first one left with my ex, but they are so good I had to get another one.

Accurate, ergonomic and good value

I am a serious DIYer and wanted a saw that would rapidly and accurately deal with most framing, weatherboards and trim timbers without having to do test cuts to prove squareness, mitres or bevel angles each time I used it. The castings and plastic mouldings are well made. Machine finishing of castings, fasteners and assembly quality were generally very good. The slide bars, mitre swivel and bevel tilt mechanism all felt quite rigid and well-engineered. The sliding bed extensions are a nice feature. I found the square and mitre detents on the main turntable to be quick to set, accurate and repeatable with the trigger release lock. The only disappointment with the machine is the mitre locking knob is a bit wobbly and feels a bit cheap due to the clearance in the casting for the nut it screws into. It is not a functional problem; it is robustly engineered and I solved it by adding a belville (dished) washer to take up the slack. The spade-handle style trigger design is great; the safety buttons at both sides of the handle allow easy left- or right-handed use, unlike most mitre saws. This makes it easy to trim a small piece of timber held against the right hand backstop. The bevel angles and the laser were not accurately set from the factory, but the manual includes very good adjustment instructions. I spent an hour adjusting these until I was very happy with the accuracy and repeatability of the cut. The blade guard functions smoothly and the mounting gives good access for easily changing the blade. I haven’t done a lot of work with this tool yet, but so far I am very happy with my choice and think it represents great value for my needs.
