Product overview

Economical, reliable diesel power in a portable package.

With it's fully enclosed and insulated design, this generator is designed to help reduce noise output, this low noise style is often referred to as a 'silent' generator.

Powerful enough for standby use, but portable enough for use on site when you need it, this workhorse Hyundai generator gives you 5000W of peak power with a steady 4600W at normal loads.

The quality AVR alternator keeps output smooth, while the rugged 9hp diesel engine is economical and reliable. Equipped with 2 x 15A, 1 x 32A 230V AC outlets and 8.3A DC outlet, this generator is ready for anything.

Ideal as on-site electricity for all operators who need a reliable source of power, the fully enclosed design protects the generator from the bumps and scrapes of everyday site use, plus it helps keep the noise levels down.

Electric starting means minimal fuss - just fire up and get to work.

Q:
Could this generator be used as a solar backup for a tiny house and fitted with auto start
A:
Yes we have an ATS available for this, size wise it may be borderline for many households. We'd suggest doing a tally of the power needs (including startup draws) of everything you need to run off it, then add some leeway. You might want to look at the bigger model.

Q:
This generator has 10A sockets (2.5kW max per socket) so is not suitable for use with your 5.5 kW ATS unit (only suitable up to 2.5kW load on the ATS) because that would require a 20 (or 22) Amp output from the generator. Do you agree? I would not recommend connecting the two 10A sockets in parallel to the ATS because small differences in contact resistance would cause one of the 10A sockets to overload. Steve R BE CPEng (Electrical).
A:
Yes, you're correct. But you wouldn't want to overload the generator, if you were to load both plugs that high the generator would stop.

Q:
Does it have Bluetooth coms for fuel monitoring?
A:
No this does not have this function.

Offgrid

I am disappointed in this product. It is not user friendly nor is it silenced. Neither of these impact functionality

Off grid starter pack

I purchased this generator to help get me on track with my goal of off grid living, so far it has been very reliable and easy to use. Produces more than enough energy for my power tools and will eventually be connected to an off grid solar system. Well built solid unit, Very happy with this product.

Hyundi 5k generator

Very Happy at the moment, but since purchase I have heard from others who have bought one, had trouble 300-500 hours. But very happy at moment.

Very good value for money. Very happy with purchase.

Hyundai 5kw enclosed generator

The unit I bought has now done 150 hours. No complaints whatsoever about the performance. Starts instantly, and when the load is applied handles 3 fridges & 2 freezers start load without any apparent problems. When final installation is complete will be used together with solar panels to keep a large bank of batteries charged which will run an inverter. Stuff I wish was better. The manual is pretty useless. "If you can't get power because the switch is turned off, turn it on" Or something like that. No Electrical diagram of any sort. Some of us can read these things... The enclosure is terribly restrictive. Gave up trying to fit the insulating covers to the battery terminals. An oil suction pump should be provided or at least offered as an extra. If you live remotely, can't just pop down to the local Supercheap. Seems like a hell of a good core unit. It's a pity about the add-ons.

Good Value

This generator is exactly what we needed. It is now an autostart backup for our off grid setup. Draw back: No 2-wire start capability (I made my own) Noisy considering it's called 'silent'

Hyundai 5000w (4600w) generator

Excellent generator with an 186fa engine which is easy to work on and very easy and cheap to get parts for online if needed. One thing that was holding me back a little was the photo on tradetested of the outlets, fearing I had to modify it to draw over 10 amps. Fortunately it actually came with 2x15a outlets and 1x pdl style 32a outlet, photo attached. It is also good to see the genset came with an hour/volt/frequency meter not mentioned in the description. The tank had a little bit of diesel in it meaning there was no need to bleed the fuel lines, good stuff. On the downside, the manual is in my opinion subpar and it might as well came without one. Some basic things like the decompression valves are not even mentioned and also no mention about some standard maintenance like what the valve clearance is, you are much better off to download a service manual online. The other thing already mentioned is the noise, the generator may be silenced by some insulation but it is far from silent, then again this is to be expected from an air cooled, non-inverter diesel generator. If you plan to run this thing, for example, right next to a coffee car, better look elsewhere unless you would like to raise your voice to your customers. All in all, I am very happy with the genset and would recommend or buy again in a heartbeat!

Hyundai 5000 w Gen set

Excellent Plant. It is a back up for a solar power system and I have it running at around 75% output... 3500 watts. About the only issue I have found is the oil change system would have been very messy as it is set up. I purchased a small electric oil change pump for around which solved the problem.
