BioJute matting is a needle-punched blanket of 350gsm strong, 100% biodegradable jute fibres, ideal for use as a ground cover or for erosion control on sloped land.

BioJute matting retains moisture and suppresses weeds, breaking down over a period of 18 to 36 months (depending on climate conditions) due to its biodegradable nature.

This allows plants to thrive in their early stages of growth and avoid being strangled by pesky weeds.

The natural tone of this matting allows it to blend into your outdoor environment and be easy on the eye.

Pair with our Strol SureWell Retaining Wall System to add extra erosion control & stability to your slope.

Q:
I want to cut into squares & pin down around tress & other plants, will I need to lift it up when i use fertiliser or would the fertiliser still be effective if I spread on top of the ground cover?
A:
Depends on your fertiliser, if it's a liquid one you would be fine spreading this over the cover as it does allow water to pass through. It can be good to water regularly to ensure the fertilizer gets through the matting. If you're using a solid one I would suggest lifting up an edge to put this in the soil.

Would this be suitable to cover muddy patches in horse paddocks?
A:
No, this product will keep in moisture and it's designed to breakdown after plants are established. It would be better to look into something like the "STROL AS240 NONWOVEN GEOTEXTILE 4M X 5M WHITE" we also have

This jute i easy to use and biodegradable – both aspects of which appeal to me greatly. I will need to wait several months, though, to see if it can help control the rampant kikuyu grass.
