Product overview

Designed to ‘turn on a dime’ this self-propelled, zero-turn mower from Hyundai leaves no area of grass uncut.

Perfect for awkward areas and curved borders that are a struggle with a traditional lawn mower. The heavy duty swivelling front wheels allow for a ‘spin on own footprint’ manoeuvrability allowing you to get where you need to mow with ease. The front castor wheels can be locked into place allowing easy straight line cutting also.

Thanks to the ease at which this petrol mower can be turned, Hyundai have added the option of an extra low cut (17mm) to create bowling green like finishes. Please note - only use this on very flat smooth lawns.

The HYM510SPEZ is powered by a Hyundai 196cc petrol engine and features push-button electric start, 6 different cutting heights, mulching and 4 different speed self-propelled drive system.

A cutting width of 508mm or 20" it is ideal for medium to large size lawns and gardens. The cutting height can be simply adjusted to six different cutting heights, from 17mm to 75mm by using a single height adjusting lever, giving you complete control over your lawn care needs.

Tool-free assembly means you can be up and running in minutes, while push-button electric start and electronic CDI ignition system making starting effortless. The fully enclosed drive belt can be easily accessed through the new removable maintenance cover.

HYM510SPEZ features 4-speed drive to the large rear wheels and is controlled from the rear mounted handle control.

A large 70-litre grass collector bag features a high airflow plastic top with a level indicator to ensure maximum grass pickup and can be easily emptied.

After use, the deck can be quickly and easily cleaned underneath by running the machine with the garden hose connected to the deck cleaning connection.

The soft grip handles can be folded forward to reduce space in storage and transport.

Pity about the service

We've been using this mower successfully on large difficult lawns on our lifestyle property, 2nd Summer. On that basis the actual machine is certainly worthy of 4 stars, with the zero turn really great for tight places. However I can only award 3 stars as availability of spares is poor. Thankfully we're heading into Autumn so the grass is growing more slowly. In future though we'll look to purchase lawnmowers and other essential mechanical equipment that has proven reliable onshore service and spares, as that will be worth the extra cost.

Very good mower

The mower arrived in excellent packaging and was easy to assemble and get ready. I noticed looseness in the front axle area and found several bolts on the front axle assembly were not tightened down, I torqued them down. After charging, filling with oil and a careful inspection the mower started instantly and ran beautifully. It took a bit to get the hang of the mower as it is very long. I found that locking the front wheels on slopes is the answer to having safe control over the mower. Mowing is effortless. Catching is efficient and the starter battery holds enough reserve to complete several mows. Our section is almost 2000m2 and is mild to steep in places. The drive is more than enough to cope easily and the range of gears means there is always a comfortable speed available. My diminutive wife loves it. It is very quiet, despite being very powerful, which is a bonus An excellent mower that does what it says on the tin!

510mm Zero Turn

Great machine, robust but heavy, have had for 2 years and just bought a 2nd one.

Overall performance

This machine was originally delivered with the drive belt wrongly fitted, so it would not go any faster than the slowest speed. After figuring out the problem, I had to empty the engine oil to disassemble the drive mechanism to make it work properly. The wheels do not grip too well unless the grass is bone dry and not too long. After owning this mower for just over 2 years, used for 30min every 2 weeks during the growing periods stored in a dry shed, I now wish I had of bought a better machine with more easily available spares locally. The water hose attachment should not be used with the engine running because the drive mechanism has 2 idler pulleys and 3 x 6mm ID plane roller bearings. These have all failed on my mower despite being pedantic washing it after every use as shown in the operation manual. The bearings will get flooded with grass flavored water when washing etc. For the sake of a little more cost at manufacture, the 5 bearings should have been assembled with sealed instead of plain shielded (or even Stainless). The machine is too heavy to push without the drive mechanism, so now I have an unusable mower in the shed for the next couple of months. Trade Tested are helpful but it would be good to if they kept a better range of consumable spares in stock. I can confidently state that every one of these mowers sold will suffer the same fate with the 5 mild steel bearings in the drive mechanism seizing. When seized they destroy the very costly drive belt and plastic pulleys due to friction melting the plastic wheels. These idler parts are not readily available and now I have to wait for 6 weeks + for the 2 pulleys.

Mowing Test

I find mower great to use with lawn being done with little effort . Something I did notice when getting mower ready for getgo that the oil bottle which is stated as and marked at 600mls did contain 500 mls as motor requires 600mls to bring oil level to full mark this could be problematic if using on steep slope . This oil thing may be a one off other units may be having correct measure in oil bottle if not somebody may put oil into motor thinking oil is right amount !

Not impressed

After a year and a bit of having this mower the pull handle broke. Traction on slopes is minimum. We have swapped battery charger as the one supplied ,stopped working.today I find it no longer is a self propelled mower..At this time of year the mower stalls A lot on clumpy grass.(Xmas)

Unimpressed

After falling for all the hype about this product I am unimpressed . They say it mulches it leaves clumps all over the place and no the grass I am cutting is not wet or long as I am mowing my lawn weekly as for the self drive that is supposed to handle rough ground which my property has a couple of little humps it loses traction and as for the zero turn if you tap against anything it knocks it out of zero turn and you have to put it back into the unlock position as for charging the charger cable is far to short and you need to use an extension cord so I am unimpressed.
