First timer's patience tested, but I got there

I like the shed, but... The instructions videos are helpful for what they show, most frustrating for the details they leave out (eg installing the bottom rail (U148) in the door frame). No final close up shots of the completed section so I could compare their results to what I've done. A bit too much of screwing in screws; seen 1 or 2, seen them all. Trade Tested should test their videos by carefully watching a few people use them to construct a shed with sloping walls (especially to their wooden base)! Then re-release the video with filled in gaps where they have assumed people will just know.

Hard to put together

The shed was no pre drilled holes and instructions were not very clear at all. I had to the strengthen the shed and fix the base as the one purchased to fit this shed was too small. All in all the shed is ok but take your time be prepared for something not perfect.

Like the end product but wouldn't do it ourselves again

My husband is a former mechanic and I have renovated half a dozen houses, we know a little bit about putting things together. However, this shed did not go well. We had never done one before, the instructions both written and video were not as helpful as they could have been and we had to try and figure it out. Had a terrible time getting the doors to fit and in the end there was an inch gap in between them, which we fixed by adding another piece of steel. The rivet gun did not work at all and the metal parts for securing the bottom corners didn't work with their own wooden floor kit. Nor did the metal pieces to secure it to their flooring. We had to buy a lot of our own parts and make it work. But the shed does look nice and I am sure will be functional for our needs.

This is the second shed I have assembled over the years. This one was just as hard as the other to understand without good plans. The shed is designed to sit flat but the floor design means its dropped, a good idea but I had assembled the floor then had to either remove the triangle bottom braces or cut the floor boards. Okay when finally assembled.

Flimsy but weathertight

Panels are very thin and bend easily, drilling through the panels can unintentionally bend different layers so you need to be careful. This isn't really remedied when construction is finished with the absence of any internal framing, meaning you cannot lean anything against the walls or attach any hooks or hangers inside, limiting the usable internal space. It works as a shed, though!

Bruce Auckland

Putting it up was not that easy because it has basically very thin light panels which bend easily. But once up it has been fine.

I was unable to put up the shed so I had my 26 year old son in law put it up. He previously completed a panelbeating apprenticeship. He found it challenging, including many pieces not fitting properly, including missing drilled holes for screws. Fortunately he had sufficient gear and tools to complete it, but spent almost a full day putting it together. I hope this is useful feedback. The shed seems to be working ok now though

Pros - great price, sturdy design, great floor area. Cons - Instructions cool be better. Requires a lot of drilling, and riveting. Kit comes supplied with a rivet tool but it didn't last the full assembly. Door assembly instructions not that clear. Door latch and lock assembly did not work very well. Definitely recommend floor kit with an extra timber strut for the frame on this size shed.

The task of combining two full 4brm homes has been greatly assisted by adding this lil shed. It fits the overflow so we can get 2 cars in the main garage. Combination of videos and printed instructions were great. Fast for 2 people to put together and one extra kid to help erect.

Boat Builder Auckland

Light weight, bad instructions

Initially, having read the instructions and reviewed the accessories packs I though this would be a simple build, I was wrong. The instructions are picture based using photos meaning you can't see the detail. they list the components you needs for each step, and each bag is labelled with the step it applies to which is nice, but where to put screws, weatherproofing tape, which way around parts go, is often not clear. The instructions also have you assemble each section in a seemingly logical order but if I were to build one again, I would throw away the instructions and wing it for a better result. The tin is a bit lightweight as well, given the size of the shed, when fastening the roof it takes the lightest pressure to buckle. There are also no check measurements to help with laying out the walls or roofing so it's very easy to be a few millimeters out which has a big impact on later steps. The last issue is that they leak, a lot. This is a design flaw that they have tried to fix with weather proofing tape, but that is not sufficient. I will be forever applying silicone to make it water tight. For the price point, it's a good buy, but you really do get what you pay for. I would buy another but would not follow the instructions.

Gus Wellington

Cheap shed

It’s ok but just realise you get what you pay for. It looks good when completed. Things to be aware of. The coloursteel is paper thin and scratches and bends easily, This is not a strong shed, I can pull the panels apart with bare hands, the latches for the doors are laughable, had to buy proper ones from hardware store. Don’t expect the roof to have much snow loading ability, it sags above the double doors and the doors scrape against top lintel, easy to push back up though. If your looking for a shed with some security, look elsewhere. The timber floor fitted well.

Dave Shannon

Good value

Good value shed even if a little tricky to put together. I would advise buying better catches for the left side door to make it secure. The one provided stops it opening outwards but strong wind can blow inwards and pop the outside latch. Otherwise a good buy.

Shed Garden

This shed constructed looks fine however the process to put it together is difficult. Instructions for the front side are quite ambiguous, and the parts dont fit. I had left over bits as couldnt figure out where to put them. Some bits were too big for the space. I ended up having to cut the doors down to fit the gap, quite a process. Apparantly there is a video to watch but i only was advised of this after the shed was complete and i had complained.!!

Frank Auckland

Good enough

Bought the shed in a hurry because staff told me it was on special for 2 more days. Weeks later it’s still the same price on your website. Picked it up myself which was easy enough. All the parts were there, nothing missing. There are a few scratches and scrapes on the metal though. The assembly instructions are hopeless - language hard to understand and pictures are too small and don’t show enough detail. If it wasn’t for the YouTube vids... Broke the drill bit and because it’s a strange size (4.2mm- why not 4 or 5??) it was a bit difficul to fit the rivets into the 4mm holes drilled subsequently. Fitting the assembled panels together is a 2 person job which I haven’t got around to yet. Overall should be a pretty decent shed.

Great shed: make sure you've got help to put it together

This is a good shed and now it's up I'm happy with it. THE GOOD: The shed looks great. Excellent colour. Good value. THE BAD: Delivery from Auckland to Wellington was slow (nearly two weeks). The online freight tracking email didn't work and it wasn't accurate. The man who dropped it off from Peter Baker Transport on a Saturday morning was awesome. Shed arrived, box undamaged but inside there were a few panels with long scratches on them. Some touch up paint would be good to include in the package. There were only 2 door hinges included not 4 so we had to buy extras. The rivet tool that was included wasn't very solid and it broke. You need at least 2 people (ideally 3) to erect the walls and the roof. Instructions weren't very clear - it didn't help that they were in black and white because you couldn't look at the picture to make out some of the detailed bits. I've just read that there are online videos available - it would've been helpful to know when I ordered it.

I was able to build and erect the shed by myself. The overall quality is good. It would be helpful if the instructions were a lot clearer. Very hard to read a faded photocopy with vague images. A suggestion may be to rewrite the instructions in better English, and to add a PDF download to the product page on the website.

Assembled mine on my own until it came to erecting the walls. Windy day didn't help, but I reckon 3 or 4 people should be recommended to keep control for an outside job. Could do with an extra catch for the top of the door set. Otherwise a decent shed at a decent price.

The shed is good quality at a fair price, quite a long process to put together with drilling, riveting and lots of screws but I'm happy with the purchase. Delivery on the other hand is a shambles. It took over 3 weeks to arrive in Tauranga from Auckland. The freight company called after 2 1/2 weeks and wanted me to collect it from their depot when I had paid for door to door delivery. I'm at an 'RD' address but actually very close to the city but still paid for RD delivery. If you can get delivery down to 3 days instead of 3 weeks this review would be better.

The shed was typical of the build yourself buildings in that it was more complicated than you may have imagined. Was much easier after finding the how to videos on line, which clarified some of the more vague parts of the installation instructions. It still took a fair amount of practical experience and the use of several tools. Much easier if done with an assistant. The finished product works well and looks OK.

Difficult pickup and assembly, OK product

After calling ahead we still had to wait over half an hour at the dispatch centre to pick up our shed - no one seemed too concerned with customer service. We paid $389 to have the shed assembled and the assemblers (recommenced bu trade tested) wouldn’t remove the plastic film coating the shed as it took to long - consequently I had to do this frustrating task myself. Once up and assembled, the shed looks OK but is pretty flimsy and already having trouble with the door latch not lining up. OK value for money.

Fits all 5 of our bikes, mower, stepladder, and tools while not taking up much footprint. Assembly took a long time and the instructions were ok-ish. I didn't find out til near the end that there were very helpful videos on the tradetested YouTube channel that give good clear guidance on Shed construction. This should be referred to in the instructions or a note on the website. Door latches are not the best and I will be adding more to make it secure but apart from that I'm very happy.

Shed is ok, instructions are not very easy to follow. The steel is thin and bends easy when trying to drill the tec screws through the panels. Some small pilot holes in the panels would help but i ended up using some custom sized timber packing either side of the drill site to clamp it together and prevent the steel bending.

Dangerous to your physical and mental well being

Positives: Comes well packaged and paint finishes are very good and all the tools are supplied - albeit the drill bit went blunt pretty quick Negatives - oh where do I start - is it the hour or so peeling of the protective film that clings like a needy friend to all the wall panels - is it the expense of the plasters for all the cuts from the razor sharp edges - yes I saw the note about the gloves but try getting that film off with gloves on and it gloves don't protect your legs and arms - and lets not forget this was made to suit the manufacturer/freighter with more parts than would be required if the package was longer - and in the same vein minimal pre-drilling to ease assembly - and the instructions are a real mix - some very clear instructions on the simple bits and very poor instructions on the complicated bits including the parts not matching the pictures. So 6 hours assembly time down and I am picking a similar number still to go. So on balance I cannot recommend this product.

Thin walls that had to be strengthened with ply wood, base leaked and had to be sealed with silicone. After 4 months the hinges are starting to rust and the shed is very far in land, so would not expect this. In hindsight, would have gone with a more sturdier shed but for it's price, it does the job. Wooden finish wall let it blend in to the garden.

First shed my housemate and I have put up - we got there in the end. The instructions could be clearer and you need a flat surface to put it all together on before erecting. As with all flat pack sheds, it does take a lot of time to assemble. You would be hard-pressed to complete it in a single day. You also need at least 2 people. I assembled the walls, roof etc in my garage prior to putting shed up. My only gripe is that the internal door-bolt to secure one door is rubbish. I ended up buying 2 proper pad-bolts and installed them top and bottom of fixed door. Problem solved.

The wall panels are very thin, scratch easy and I had to reinforce them by screwing ply to the top and bottom of the interior wall plates. The panels even flex in the wind without this! Full sections are very weak when being handled for assembly. Not a shed for use in a trade capacity, more suited for light garden use.

Pleased with my little lightweight shed. A real jigsaw puzzle to put together made a whole lot easier by some of the best assembly instructions I've come across. I actually used them which is a first for me!

The shed was easy to assemble and the end result was a great looking shed to meet our expectations. The colour choice was a big draw card when choosing to go with Trade Tested. All in All very happy with our purchase.

Finished product good. I would not recommend to anyone without building or good DIY experience as the instructions are terrible!

Really good shed but hellish instructions

We are really pleased with the shed but assembling it was horrendous, I rang for help and they sent me a 'how to'video I don't know why everyone can't have the link to that in the first place, it would make assembly a lot easier.

It’s a good product to add space for storage outdoor. Good value for its size. The instruction is not very clear, needs some investigation and careful thought while assembly. The rivet gun supplied is not very easy to use, but it comes for free, so... I guess shouldn’t complaint. Over all, I enjoy the new shed. Great to be able to put my tools and clear up the garage.

Shed easy to put up. did it in stages in garage and when all ready took a couple of hours to put it up. instructions not always right. check the door fitting before doing door jambs. Overall pretty happy.

Had some very big winds just after it was installed. Held up without issue. I would highly recommend this product.

The shed looks great. The instructions in certain points could be clearer (the pictures need to be better resolution). The protective wrapping on the sheet metal was difficult to remove, and very time consuming.

Good price and looks good. But instructions are incorrect. The floor needs to be bigger than instructions and a lot of instruments are wrong. Husband got it together by working it out helped he was a builder.

Quite difficult to put together if you are not a carpenter. Door panels did not quite fit. But once its up is a good size shed.

Great product. Easy to assemble. Loved how each section had all the parts in separate bags. Everything we needed was in the kit

fantastic shed, easy to put together and will need second person to hold walls up while assembling. I found that the slide bolt for holding the second closed was to small and you need to have two slide bolts one top and bottom. Over all I would give this shed, 9 out of 10. Hope this will help you to make a decision thus ends the review.

This is fine for a garden shed however it is not very strong and the lock can be pulled out very easily. The sidings are also not strong and therefore not particularly safe if you are wanting to lock something away securely - we have had to add strengthening to walls external footing and concrete base. Would prefer to pay more and get a sturdy shed

Good big small shed. Ideal for storing heaps of items by adding shelves & with the double doors it is so easy to manouver the lawn mower in & out. The only fault to me was in the instructions as they were a photocopy & the pictures were very poor quality. I got over this by looking at the you tube videos available.

What a mission!

Some parts of the instructions are very hard to read and understand and I had to take the end floor planks off to secure the corners to the bearers after assembling the flooring first as per the instructions among other things. Also, some of the pieces of the front wall seem too long causing issues with the roof fitment. Also the shed definitely needs more bracing as is quite flimsy in parts. Some improvements to the instructions definitely need to be made. I think the product is okay but maybe a review via customer feedback is in order to improve service. Once up it looks okay.

Great little garden shed, just about spot-on.

Great shed, it would be nice if you could include upper door latch (only bottom supplied, which is not enough). Bottom corner plates require end flooring boards to be not nailed, so it can be slipped under the boards. The shed is slightly wider than the standard floor sold by Tradetested.

Look so good... But it is too thin

If it is a little bit thick, it will be fantastic.

Too much assembly

This shed required too much assembly. It was difficult to assembly the panels with a large work trestle to keep it flat and give access to both sides

Here is the review you posted if you’d like to copy it over: “Found this shed far easier to erect than others I have had. Kit came complete with everything needed. Have had it erected through heavy rain and wind and is watertight. Found instructions a little difficult to read as it seems that they have been copied a few too many times. Very happy with the finished product. Good price.”

Great shed & so easy to assemble

I bought this shed a month ago and couldn't be happier with it. It was so easy to assemble, a great size, great quality and fantastic price. It provides really good storage space and the double doors mean it's really easy to get our bikes in and out. Trade tested also provides awesome customer service as I contacted them with an assembly question and they came back to me within 15 mins with a clear explanation for what I needed to do for that step...wouldn't get that anywhere else!!
