q: Is the saw gutless and slows down if you attempt to take on to big a branch, or a thick hedge? Also how long before chain needs a sharpen? Thanks, Kevin.
a: The best thing to do is have a read of our customer reviews to see how they're using it and what they think, but that said we're confident you'll be pleasantly suprised! Chain life depends on what you're cutting and how it's treated (keep it clean and out of the dirt etc) but you should get at least 10 hours before needing to give it a sharpen.

Wonderful saw, have used it a lot. I am always surprised how well it cuts. Made easy work of 120mm Gum tree branches in the weekend. Good battery life, easy to use. Would recommend.

Great for pruning trees that are overgrown

Powerful and long reach. Much safer than a chainsaw. Comfortable to use. Cutting blade tends to get clogged with small branches and needs frequent cleaning. Not too heavy but arms can get tired when using it overhead for really high branches.

Bought this last week and used it for the first time this weekend. Was easy to use, just had to get used to the length and it cut through the branches easily. Has a slight kick back to it, but was impressed with it. Uses a bit of oil but guess this it what it is designed to do. Can't wait to finish all the pruning with it.

We purchased the unit to prune 4 large trees with some thicker branches. After pruning the 1st tree we are impressed with the performance. Our unit came with the larger battery (optional extra) and would recommend this for any serious pruning

Stig Wellington

Grunty Beast

I laboured with an entry level pole saw that gave up the ghost after a season. Chain kept coming off and battery life was poor. The GreenWorks model is the opposite in every way. Great reach and such a grunty battery that a job takes less than half the time, and the arms and shoulders benefit from that as well. I'd recommend this saw as a high-level tool, well designed, and a great price. And the battery from my GreenWorks mower and trimmer fits of course. Great all round.

I used this to take down some quite large branches. It has plenty of power and the battery seems to last quite a long time using it. Overall i am very pleased with it but have only used it once so I cant comment on its long term reliability.

Magic pole

We are thoroughly delighted with the pole saw. It cuts without hesitation and it is so great to be able to reach high branches when ladders are not an option for us. One negative is that unlike the chainsaw that we bought at the same time, the pole saw doesn't have the metal springs in the battery chamber to help release the battery - this is quite a struggle to get out at times.

J Wellington

Good for smaller branches

Effortlessly slices through the smaller branches, loses a star though as quite hard for me to use on the full extension due to it being quite heavy and me being a rather slight/not particularly strong person

I am 5ft nothing and my husband hates anything to do with gardening, he has a 20 inch chainsaw but it is too big for me! This pole saw was amazing it was easy for me to use and I could wander around our 10 acre section and happily trim the trees. Cuts like a hot knife through butter, a very efficient saw. I love this product and am happily waiting to find more tree's to trim:)

Excellent Kit

Only had it a day and already the garden is unrecognisable (in a good way). Slices through the boughs and branches with ease and then you can reduce the pole length to chop up the bits that are left. Battery life is impressive with the 2.00 amp/hr unit lasting as long as I can go. Highly recommended and a good price too.

Exactly what I was after

We have a huge tree in a neighbouring property, which I love, but it was encroaching into our yard, and smothering one of our native trees. This was exactly what I needed to reach the high branches, let in more light, and provide more space. The saw itself is great, it can handle thicker branches than I was expecting. Great run time with the battery as well.

Bought this pole saw to remove lower shrub and tree branches. It's nicely balanced and easy to use - makes hard work easy. Does a great job on most branches but did make rough cuts on lagerstroemia trees, which are very brittle. I haven't used the extension as it is too heavy for me to handle. Something hubby would be able to use more easily.

Greenworx pole saw

I have had this pole saw for about a month. It cuts well has the power for the job. Generally it appears robust. My only comments: The trigger/lock system is opposite to my other tools. When using it on a reach and you finish the cut you are supporting the machine through the on button so it stays running until you can relieve the weight from the trigger which is not ideal. If the trigger lock and trigger were reversed it would make it safer to operate. Also the battery appears to drop power if charged then stored for a week. The 1st time out doesn’t last but a recharge brings it back to quite a decent working time

Better than Expected!

never used a chainsaw before...but with the help of a very experienced friend I found this pole saw extremely effective. My friend who obviously is much better qualified to give an opinion did most of the work trimming my very large banksia. Even tho we had the saw operating for over 1/2 an hour and did some rather large cuts( largest being 5-6 inches, which is larger than specified), the saw cut through hard wood like butter, and the battery was still on one bar at the end! I have a back, and neck problem, but with the harness I was able to comfortably do an extra 20 minutes myself with full extension, without straining myself.

I bought this polesaw on the back of buying the 16" 40V chainsaw (So i use it with the larger 4.0Ahr battery, which give a good amount of cutting time). It is surprisingly grunty, and handles large green branches 150mm in diameter with relative ease, and in silence... well OK, maybe not silence, but it is certainly much quieter than the petrol equivalent. great addition to the rechargeable tool kit. Only downside is that it feels quite top(saw end) heavy, but with the battery mounted right on the base end of the pole, you couldn't really get better balance.using the supplier shoulder strap helps.

The pole saw is the latest addition to my greenworks tool shed and I’ve been very impressed with its performance. I’ve been using to trim cryptomeria shelter trees so far and this thing absolutely chews through it. The ability to take out pole lengths also makes it very maneuverable. Battery performance is impressive as with the other greenworks tools. Drops a star for being a little awkward at full length and the fit of the arm strap. However a bit more use should get me used to it. Thanks Trade Tested
