Product overview

The Chooketeria is a one step self-service feeder that allows chickens the freedom to feed themselves anytime without human supervision or intervention.

An ingenious trough system provides ample space for multiple chooks to eat at once, with features to ensure your chook's safety. Reminiscent of a kitchen pedal bin, hungry chooks simply step onto a foot 'pedal', which swings open the troughs aluminium lid to expose fresh chicken feed inside. Once the chooks step off, the lid closes shut automatically to keep vermin, bugs and weather out. This means you can leave the property for a few days and return to happy, healthy chickens. Can hold approximately 5kgs of feed, meaning that at 125gms of pellets a day per hen, a full Chooketeria should last 8 hens up to 5 days.

Q:
What weight chicken will activate it? I am worried my bantom will not be able to open it. Have other chooks too, but the bantom is the worry.
A:
We don't have an exact weight rating, but the manufacturer has confirmed it's fine for bantams.

Chooketeria

Chook feeder works well, old chooks took some days to get it to work. Feeder keeps out sparrows, rats and mice. It also keeps their food dry. In aluminium to and will never rust. Excellent feeder.

Great feeder

Takes a week or so for the chickens to figure out how it works but once they do, you only need to fill up once a week and makes going away for the weekend a whole lot easier.

Chooketeria original

Easy to assemble and follow instructions. Placed it beside coop door so they stood on it frequently. Took them 10 days to learn to stand on its step to feed regularly. Gives us much more flexibility.

Chookateria

Great product all our chickens have learnt how to use it snd it has saved me $$ as I’m not feeding all the other bird life and rabbits that are around

Chickens get fed

A good chooketeria but found it a bit light. Works better with some rocks placed in it otherwise it tips up, bangs down, and then scares the chooks off. Once I put the rocks in they got the hang of it and it works well. Seems to be weathering well and cleans up easily after it's regular washdowns.

Solidly made, poorly designed

Lid motion scares the chickens, I'm sure they get used to it. The real issue with this feeder is that the treadle isn't large enough to accommodate all chickens. Mine are average sized dual purpose/egg-laying breeds and none of them could operate the treadle and still get their heads in. I had to go to a lot of effort too extend the treadle with a piece of plywood, and counterbalance the lid to get it to still close.

Allows you to go away for a couple of days

Was a bit of a trick to put together. The birds took about three weeks to work out. I had to sit a bulldog clip on it to keep it open a little to get them into the swing of it. The peg supplied lasted two seconds. I have sat the feeder on a large paving stone as it’s quite important it’s on a flat base. Once I went out and the birds had flipped it so I was a bit worried about it’s future. However they haven’t done it since. You have to check it to see the peddle hasn’t stuck and the nuts haven’t undone. It is handy when you are away for a couple of days.
