Trade Tested Attic Ladder Stairs are made of top quality NZ pine ensuring the highest strength and durability available. Comes fully assembled, including the ceiling lid, steel handle and instructions. Can be trimmed to suit your stud height, from 2.1m to 2.7m. Treads are fitted using dovetail joints for added durability. Safety grooves are cut into the treads to help prevent slipping.
Most NZ homes built in the last 50 years have a floor to ceiling height of between 2400mm to 2700mm. These attic stairs are suitable for these stud heights.

Exactly as it was described on the website, and it has been a dream, even for me with limited skills, to install. Good quality hinges, the stairs feel solid and safe to use.

Fast to lower and put back up, it has transformed our roof cavity storage, no more contortion trying to get through a 500mm hatch hole. The only con I've found is that the foot/toe space on the upper stairs is a bit narrow( i imagine this will be a common issue on this style stair), but a very minor thing and they still work really well. Highly recommend.

Actual installation was straight forward enough but contains no advice on how to strengthen your joists having cut out 2 joists (hole is pretty long)and I had to go across my joists due to a stairwell. Quality of boxing 3/5 cheap timber and not particularly well finished. However the mechanism and springs was very good plenty of adjustment room. A bit of guesswork as to how much to cut off the ladder. My advice little bit at a time. Overall it's a cheap product for what you get and works perfectly well. If I had a $1m home I would pay a builder to design something more splendid.

One issue is that the stairs are flush with the hatch, and the tread step is quite shallow, which means it is difficult to walk up the top half of the stairs. The handle on the side also doesn't feel particularly sturdy. For the price, however, we are very happy with the product.
