Could this be mounted to the rear of a campervan, but with the lid opening downwards instead of being mounted upright?
A:
Yes potentially with the right brackets, you will probably need to drill the the toolbox to attach it, so make sure you come up with a way of sealing around these holes.

Nice Checker plate box, it is now mounted on my camping trailer. A pair of gas struts for the lid would be much nicer instead of the flimsy chain when opening the lid. I'm happy with the product.
