Construction Points:
A good foundation is the key to guaranteeing the longevity and quality of your cabin. Only a completely level, rectangular foundation and bearers will ensure problem-free installation of the cabin.
The floor must be a minimum of 50mm off the ground, preferably more. The underside of the floorboards and the joists should be painted thoroughly and care taken to ensure enough airflow under the house. We recommend using Malthoid DPC between joists and the ground.
If unsure consult with, or have the foundation prepared by a specialist.
Note: This video shows a similar log cabin from Palmako, however it does not represent this exact product.
I think this represents very good value for money and can be improved and strengthened easily and cheaply. All the parts fitted, there was minimum warping of the timber. We screwed each level into the level below at the corners. We also fitted the supplies Storm braces especially on the wall with the double French doors and two windows which was quite floppy without them. We screwed the roof timber down too. We built a concrete pad and used special fixing to mount the joists onto that pad. We also capped off the joists with a piece of timber and siliconed it so that water could not get under the floor. The window stays are very flimsy and I recommend replacing at some stage. Also the French door with door handle can swing back and could break a windows so a door latch hook is a good idea. Roofing felt is quite brittle and we will replace with a metal roof at some stage. Finally there IS a set of printed instructions but they are right in the middle of all the pieces so you must unlock everything to get to them. Or use the online ones. Altogether a good value product which does need staining for protection.
We put this on spot foundations 500cm to match the level of our existing home and be well clear of floods ,painted with recommended oil twice. Put zincaloom roof on after the supplied bitumen paper with purlins to give a gap. Found window strips had screws which hit the glass, unfortunately,I broke one. Impressed the windows are double glazed though! We are using the cabin as a utility room/ laundry, with roomfor 2 big freezers and linen storage. All in all an excellent cabin for the price. Trade tested have been marvelous to deal with. Very pleased with end result.
Great products Can’t say enough how much I love this cabin
With foundations already in place the cabin itself took 3 of us a full weekend to assemble and we are stoked with the final result. We’re building a deck out the front and putting a tin roof on top so there still some work to be done. We’ll most likely be buying a second one of these in the near future.
Our cabin is perfect as a kids lounge room/guest space. Great product, easy to put together and good quality.
This is my purpose-built, off-grid office. It's such a beautiful space. Hardware is a bit flimsy but the wood itself is top notch and what a great result for the price. We added a solar power system and water tank as well as a deck to soak in the views. Very happy with the overall result.
We found the cabin quite easy to put together once we got going, though the instructions we're quite vague in some areas. Note there is no roofing included in the price so we had to buy shingles as well. The cabin is stained using CD50 Hickory with two coats. We're absolutely loving the size of the cabin and the acoustics is going to be amazing as we're using the room as our music room.
Great idea for that extra room that every household needs. I’ve added a bath and it’s become a guest room or ? Great DIY project or call your local contractor, it can be completed in as little as a week.
Product was super easy to put together, two of us managed to get the cabin constructed in a single day! Surprisingly warm with the double-glazed windows, we did add a heatpump and underfloor insulation which was a nice addition in the winter months. Roofing sheets and window joinery (the lock arms only) was the only part that let the cabin down, we ended up replacing with tin corrugate and new hardware. Makes for a nice office retreat!
The shed is a great size, builder was impressed with how well it all went together. A great finished product, seems good quality. Our German Shepherd seemed to think it was going to be an awesome new kennel at one stage! Looking forward to fitting it out!
