Product overview

Over 3000 Kiwis have purchased the popular Colonial Clothes Airer now – a testament to their quality, style, and of course money-saving practicality.

The Airer once installed is designed to be loaded at waist height and then simply pulleyed up to the drying position just below the ceiling. Operating the pulleys is surprisingly easy and the washing will soon dry in the warmer air near the ceiling. And remember – nothing is cluttering your precious floor area!

The Airer itself features Antique Black epoxy-coated metal ends hand-cast in the traditional way. The four wooden rails are crafted from locally sourced kiln-dried Kahikitea (NZ White Pine), specially selected for its straight grain and warp-resistant stability. The rails are supplied fine sanded and ready to use but do not have a coating on them. The light, white pine colour can be stained or clear coated to match existing décor. All other components and hardware are specially selected for their quality and durability to give years of smooth trouble-free service. The kitset includes all mounting hardware, pulleys, cord set and DIY assembly instructions. Order yours today.

How strong does my ceiling/roof to handle the weight of my washing?
For optimal strength, we recommend screwing this into a wooden ceiling joist. The Clothes Airer weighs 5kgs, plus a lot of wet washing can weigh a bit so you will need a solid spot for this.

Is this long enough for a queen sized sheet or do I need the next size up? What load capacity does it have?
To hang a queen sized sheet without folding it at any point, you may need the next size up. There is no specified load rating for these types of products. It is built from a very sturdy construction design though include solid timber beams and epoxy coated metal. Under a high enough weight, the ropes or pulleys would experience issues before this rack would.

Oldie but a goody!

My son came to stay with his kids and said “how’d you raise us 3 kids without a drier…” and I said “…we had one of these”.

Ideal for our needs

Just what we needed in the laundry for indoor drying. Once we worked out how the pulley system worked, (You Tube), was easy to install.

No, I do not recommend this product.
Love it!

Bought for my mother in-law. Super easy to assembly and is perfect for drying clothes in the garage without taking up any floor space.

Colonial airer

Fabulous addition to my porch. I use it all the time and it looks great. I would love a more detailed description of how to thread the pulley system. For example does the rope get threaded from the same side or opposite on the action end.

colonial clothes airer

Great kit easy to install and gets things dry in winter when I have fire running, no more tripping over airer's in front of fire.
