Yes, this needs to have the battery in it to run. The solar panel charges the rechargeable battery that's included in the light. It's easy to swap out with a Phillips screwdriver if you ever need to

You're best bet would be to go with the black model as it is powder coated, but like with all outdoor equipment, especial near water, they need general maintenance.

Inferior quality compared to price.

Bought around 8. 3 working now .the base is made of plastic which starts to crack and then break within one year time which makes it irreparable.

Excellent driveway lights

These stainless lights are wonderful & we get an amazing amount of hours from dusk till dawn. I have had several for over three years & they are still going strong. I clean the solar tops every couple of months.

Solar lights

I bought 4 of these in April 2022. Only one still working. Better than some I have had over the years. They are OK as a short term lighting solution.
