Construction Points:
A good foundation is the key to guaranteeing the longevity and quality of your cabin. Only a completely level, rectangular foundation and bearers will ensure problem-free installation of the cabin.
The floor must be a minimum of 50mm off the ground, preferably more. The underside of the floorboards and the joists should be painted thoroughly and care taken to ensure enough airflow under the house. We recommend using Malthoid DPC between joists and the ground.
If unsure consult with, or have the foundation prepared by a specialist.

Firstly, very pleased with the final result. Yes I would recommend it. I spoke to the Trade Tested people and they said do not underestimate how long its takes to complete. From the foundation, the build, the roof, the deck all takes time. The actual walls go up quick. Trade Tested highly recommended oil staining all the 250+ bits! Before the build. We used Cabots Natural Oil and it was the Natural colour. This took quite some time but worth it in the end as it is not treated! We also got familiar with all the bits as the instructions are not that great! Once completed we did a second coat of oil stain on the exterior and it looks amazing. One issue was the size. I checked if 3.6 x 2.7 was the actual size and made the base this size. This was wrong as the actual size was 3.6 x 2.75. Annoying but easy fix. We put corrugated iron roof on and this was cheaper and more robust. However the roof end barge boards were not long enough for a roof that was raised. Lucky there were some extra planks in the kit so I made some more. We put Expol under the floor as we were laying the floor boards. A nail gun made the floor and ceiling boards much easier to do. Some people mention the door leaks. There is a flashing strip supplied but not long enough. I made another and sealed it with no more gaps. The actual door can leak at the top to so a little angled flashing over the top of the door would fix this. This is not supplied so I made one. Any other holes or gaps can be filled with exterior no more gaps easily. The other thing I would do is close in the base joist ends before erecting the cabin so it looks finished and tidy and Expol not exposed. These are not supplied in the kit. Overall it was a pleasure to build and looks great but it will take you some time to get it all right but its worth it. Happy cabin building.
Trade Tested and Iris Log Cabins take a bow. The shed arrived well packaged and installation was without hitch. It looks and feels absolutely perfect. I used and recommend the protective oil also supplied by Trade Tested. Just would have liked more information on the requirements for the foundation. But all worked out well. I have a wonderful addition to my garden.
Got this as a home-office/sleep out. It was relatively easy to install, even for newbies like us. Getting everything square, understanding the instructions (not in "real" English) and getting the roof on where the main challenges. We have since got it powered and had a proper roof installed. Otherwise, really happy with the result!
I have to say, without much building experience, this cabin was very easy to assemble. It took x2 solid days, excluding a seperate day of setting piles and foundation work. The materials are great quality, communication with Tradetested was great also. It arrived with weather-proof flatpack which was great also, as it bought us time to set a free weekend to assemble it. The French doors and window provide plenty of light, with the ability to cut out a space for another window at a later stage. Plenty of extra materials, nails and screws were also provided. We have recommended this to many friends and work colleagues, and have received loafs of positive comments, particularly around the value for money. Thank you to the Auckland staff at Tradetested, great service.
It has taken me less than a day to assemble the structure of the cabin and then a mother morning to add the roof. I have done all of this by myself, without any assistance, and it is very doable. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. The product itself is well manufactured and of good quality. Very happy with the purchase!
Alsoom cabin, I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to live in
Easy to assemble. Also come with spare parts. The customer service is really good.
I'm sad to say that as cute as this cabin is, it's been a problem from the beginning. Some timber was damaged when it was delivered. Our cabin came with the doors already put together which seemed like a bonus, however with all this rain we have had there has been leaks in so many places on the doors, so I am not a happy person. Very disappointed.
Easy to assemble and great hobby room
I found the review comments very useful pre-purchase. So hopefully you find this commentary helpful. The build process was really easy and quick. I spent time getting the foundations right using piles, bearers and stainless fixings. I also fixed polythene to the ground for moisture protection. It was useful having the plans prior to delivery so the foundation could be laid. On arrival I extracted the joists from the pack and painted them to assist the pretreated timber. They were then fixed to the bearers. It wasn’t clear in the instructions how to fix the joists. So as well as 90mm screws, I also used Stainless straps (not included) to secure bearers and joists to the walls. I also purchased some wood treatment for the underside of the floor boards and some Expol under floor insulation. The building of the wall’s was quick. The roof did take time, and because I secured the roof panels with two nails, I did run out.. The instructions weren’t clear. Next step was the roof felt. There were a lot of nails used and I did have to climb onto the roof to secure it. Once built we painted the outside of the timber straight away. A few weeks later we have had trouble aligning the doors so they lock properly, and have added an additional lock. To reduce cost I installed some solar lights for the cabin. OverallI I am still very happy with my purchase and have resolved issues.
