I recently purchased a 5in 1 Hyundai pole saw. The saw is everything it was advertised to be. I agree with another reviewer that it could be improved by incorporating a chainsaw type carburetor which would make it more versatile. I have improved the versatility by drilling and filing an additional square locating hole 90 degrees around the chainsaw and hedge trimmer shafts. I haven't used the line trimmer.
Its powerful. not as heavy as I thought...but it is heavy. the extensions pole are made of aluminium, I thought was steel, so be aware they are soft but light. The clamp on the pole holder had "bitten" into the pole and made removing a bot difficult, so with a file I smooth the clamp edges. The Guard does not offer great clearance when using the eight tooth blade and grass can get stuck between blade and guard. but whacking the fallen cabbage tree leaves with my old Ryobi would clog the trimmer head, this one just chews it up.
Would be a good set if it started easily and wasnt so heavy. Even our sons who do weight training were shocked at how heavy it is for a simple garden trimmer. Have purchased a lighter one so it now just sits in the garage.
This does everything youd want it to. The chainsaw cutter is awesome as is the hedge trimmer attachment. However the 50cc engine is far too heavy! Im a big guy and bought this to use around our lifestyle block, but I dread using it and will probably sell it and buy something lighter. I read other reviews about it being too heavy, but was lured by the power and the reach of the extension pole. Huge mistake.
Have used all the functions a couple of times and this machine performs well. Plenty power and appears to be well made. Minimal exhaust fumes. The internal drive shafts could be retained better but I can live with the way they are. Came with safety gloves and visor etc. Great value for not much more than the ones that are junk.
Cuts through anything I throw at it. Easy to start and maintain. A bit on the heavy side but worth it for rumble of the big block.
For the price I was expecting more from this machine. Firstly the instructions were pathetic.( it wasn't until I had assembled everything by trail and error that I found a complete set of instructions on line). The weight is very bad but what makes it worse is the harness. Totally uncomfortable and the straps slip so much I have had to tie them all in place which makes small adjustments difficult. The strimmer line that comes with the machine you may as well throw straight away as it repeatedly breaks before its time (yellow line from Bunnings seems to be most economical). I would have chosen a different machine in hindsight and will now be looking for a comfortable harness to handle the weight.
