Fantastic little gadget

I've never owned a chainsaw. Was looking for one which is light enough for my wife to use, less noisy and runs on batteries. This was the perfect fit in terms of affordability and form factor!

Light weight and easy to use. I have had the chain jump off a couple of times but the design makes it easy to put back on again.

Just the ticket

This was my first experience with battery driven power tools and to say that I was impressed would be a gross understatement. This machine is quiet, light and maneuverable yet attacks reasonable sized timber with gusto. I now have difficulty wresting the saw from my wife. I heartedly recommend both the saw and the kit that goes with it.

Ann Hamilton

My little helper

My husband assembled the saw with no problems. Saw was light, easy to start and use. In my opinion the saw is not suitable to prune large shrubs as the chain speed is too slow leaving a very rough untidy cut. To cut fire wood this saw is great and not having all the noise is a blessing. Very happy with purchase. Ann, Waikato.

Cut down to size

OK this is not a BIG chainsaw, and it does not have the most powerful motor, BUT it is a little beauty. Had to trim off some branches from a large flowering cherry tree, the chainsaw is light enough to hold above shoulder height, it has the power to cut reasonable size timber. Trimmimng up to put cut offs in bin was easy. Also used chainsaw to remove a tree stump in the middle of my back lawn. Easy small cuts and it was gone. I am nearly 80 years old, a bit slow, but I like all the Greenworks G-max tools I own. They make my gardening enjoyable again.

Tiny, but does good work

I've only had it a month and was disappointed at the first cut, then realised I was cutting old dry Puriri. Now that's a big ask for a little saw, but it did well As an 87 year old I needed something light and this little saw fills the bill nicely, so it's happy happy joy joy for me...... overall, a nice little unit.

Saw works well, but not as good as petrol of similar size. I like the ease of use, so if in difficult areas, pull the trigger and away it goes. No chance of stalling, just check battery level before starting.

Best saw I have for garden work and moderate sizes trees. Being able to switch on is far easier than starting my petrol saw. Its light and easy to handle. I am surprised how long the battery lasts. My only complaint is the small hole for chain oil filling, but otherwise is a great product.

Good for what it is

If you are thinking of this as a heavy duty performer then think again. This product does what it is intended for and does it to an acceptable standard. The best thing is being able to cut out small trees and shrubs without having to stop and restart. It is lighter than the equivalent petrol model and it also cuts firewood, branches etc easily. The battery (in my case a 2.0) life is quite acceptable for an oldy like myself. The battery also works well with my Greenworks Hedge Trimmer and my Greenworks Tiller!! One thing though: you'd think if you were selling a product in NZ you would include a manual written in English and not Indonesian! Fortunately the manual is on-line.

Good for first-timers

Was too unfit to use a bowsaw on my firewood so after reading lots of reviews and youtubes settled on this puppy. Lets cover set up to usage. Firstly I'm a complete novice with chainsaws this is the first I've owned and used. Setting up. The instructions were insufficient and I had to go to the Greenworks site and watch a few vids as I just couldn't work out how to stop the chain from slipping off. Eventually I found a youtube comment which explained how to fit the bar over a small pin first. The manual did not show how to do this. Using. This felt a lot safer to use than I imagined, it's reasonably light and shuts down quick. It easily cut through logs and lasted about 20 mins on the battery charge (which was about 15mins longer than I lasted using a bowsaw). I noticed it has a tendency to gently spit oil at me, I'm trying not to take it personally and remind myself lube will be lube. Adding oil is a bit of guesswork as the indicator plastic was more opaque than transparent, but judging my the oil splattering back at me I guessed it had enough. Overall. I'm really happy with this chainsaw, looking forward to taking down a tree with it for next year's firewood. This is my third GreenWorks tool and I suspect I'll end up with the whole set eventually. Good value for money and very good for first-timers. Totally recommend it!

Very happy with my purchase of Greenworks 12" Chainsaw. I have never used a chainsaw before and found this so easy to operate. Cuts easily through branches, that my other equipment; struggled with. Now I have a nice load of firewood. Hard to see how much oil is left, so just top up every now and again.

Am loving this chainsaw. It is light and easy to use cutting through some good size trees easily. Th only thing I don't like is that you can not see how much oil there is as the container is not clear and also rather fiddly to fill.

Excellent chainsaw on nearly all counts. At over 65yrs I can handle it easily. Cuts like a dream and battery lasts for ages even when firewood cutting. The fast charger takes the length of time of a coffee break. My only gripe is that the chain oil reservoir is a bit awkward to fill and is so opaque that I can not see the oil level and have to peer inside.

Early days yet but it appears to be the perfect suburban chainsaw - keep the battery charged, the oil tank full and it's ready to go at the pull of the trigger. Cut through a 10 inch Magnolia branch without drama. Battery (2.0Ah) life seems adequate for most jobs around the section.

When I first tried this chainsaw it was very jumpy on branches which I found very unsettling. We ended up taking to our local chainsaw shop & replaced the chain which has definitely fixed the problem. The original chain teeth are very spaced apart which contributed to the jumping. Works great now 1 star off for chain.
