Product overview

Compost faster and more efficiently with the Earthmaker 466L aerobic compost bin.

Aerobic composting works as heat in the top chamber creates an upward flow through the chambers that aerates material on the upper shelves faster.

This material then cycles down to the bottom chamber creating a continuous cycle system - so newly added waste is not mixed with older maturing material. Think of it as a traditional 3-bin process stacked vertically - make gravity do the work for you!

The entire product is made from polypropylene which is recyclable, with added carbon black to resist UV rays. The Earthmaker's main contribution to sustainability is making composting easier.

The Earthmaker 466L Aerobic Composter takes the hard work out of transforming kitchen and garden organic waste into nutritious compost that adds value to your land.

Roughly how long does it take to compost if you're adding most days?
It should take around 12 weeks to get your first batch of compost, please note this is very dependent on the weather and what materials you are putting in.

I don't understand how rats can get in if it's sitting firmly on concrete. It's a solid base.
If you're having any trouble with rats we would recommend not adding grease, meat, or dairy products to the compost. To deter rodents from nesting in the bin, keep the compost moist and make sure to turn and empty it regularly.

Does this compost bin have a closed bottom so as not to entice rats?
No it's open, if this is a major concern you could add some marine ply as a base and screw the bin down onto it.

If I mounted an Earthmaker on a plywood base to prevent rats are there other gaps up the sides or around the top that they could still enter to get into the bin? inside the bin
No, if this bin is fixed to solid plywood then there should be no way for rats to get in.

Bloody awesome

I have had one of these earthmaker compost bins for over 10 years now and it makes brilliant compost. So, when my daughter and family wanted to get into vege gardening more, I knew there was no better gift and it's a brilliant way to dispose of food scraps, egg shells etc.
