Earthmaker Compost Bin 466L

Think twice before getting one of these. Its a good idea but the shelf capacity leaves a lot to be desired. I planned on getting two for my average Kiwi sized section. Assembled the first one ( quite easy).Put in my first load and found one grass catcher full of lawn clippings was too much for the first shelf. Added the contents of the scrap bucket (admittedly four days worth, but there are only two of us) and most of it went tumbling through to the second chamber making a mockery of the concept. I cant imagine what the designer thought I would do with the weeds Id just pulled out or the rest of the lawn clippings. The whole point of composting is to convert ALL of your garden waste and kitchen scraps into compost and for that, Im afraid, this system is a joke. Id need at least six units to do it for us. Maybe more.Tomorrow Ill be investing in a couple of traditional compost bins which fill from the bottom up and cost a fraction of what these do. These ones are only suitable for someone who gardens in a container on their deck.

Unfortunately i had to get help to assemble it !!!. plans were confusing. However , fantastic , absolutely thrilled. Great chamber layout, fits plenty 8in for me as one man band and smaller vegie garden , so ideal. i dont compost food scraps as do not like thought of mice and rats getting in , but everything else goes in. i got a few tiger worms from Gubba to start it all off.

I have had one of these earthmaker compost bins for over 10 years now and it makes brilliant compost. So, when my daughter and family wanted to get into vege gardening more, I knew there was no better gift and it's a brilliant way to dispose of food scraps, egg shells etc.

Amazing product - does the job well and creates compost quickly!! I love it!! Fully recommend!!
