Fit & care advice for NZ outdoor furniture
Allow 60-90 cm of clearance around your furniture. You can clean any outdoor furniture with a microfibre cloth, warm water, and a small amount of dish soap. Things to consider for specific materials include:
Resin plastic, imitation wood: We recommend storing your resin, imitation wood, and rattan outdoor furniture indoors or covering them during winter to avoid freezing and cracking.
Wood: Oil hardwoods regularly to maintain colour and longevity. For tough stains, use a stiff brush on dry wood, followed by a damp cloth. Make sure that the water doesn't pool up!
Metal: Be gentle with metallic surfaces, as any blemishes in the powder coating or galvanising can become susceptible to rust.
Glass: During rough weather, we suggest moving glass-top dining tables inside or tying down any backyard objects that could fly into them.
Concrete: Besides cleaning with a damp cloth, you can spray down concrete tables and seats with a medium-pressure garden nozzle. Avoid knocking hard objects into concrete furniture, as it can chip and scratch.
Fabric cushions: Spot clean with mild soapy water or a specialist outdoor fabric cleaner. Remove and wash covers with cold water on a delicate cycle. Store indoors or in a storage box over winter.

With proper maintenance and care, most materials can last a long time. However, aluminium and resin are the most suitable if you are looking for a low-maintenance, long-lasting outdoor furniture material.
How to choose the right size for my patio?
Measure your patio space and allow at least 60–90cm of clearance around furniture for comfortable movement and access.
