q: Hi there If I seal up the hole for the water drainage and drill a new one, is it possible to move one of the outer posts 200mm inwards? Cheers
a: Yes you could.

q: You say it has 5 degree fall, where does the water go, can you attach a gutter ?
a: The gutter is integrated into the front bar, it then runs down through hidden channels in the posts and exits at the feet - it's pretty slick!

q: I live near a golf course - would the flexi plastic handle a golf ball landing on it (bounce off) or would it crack/go through? Thanks
a: It depends on the angle and force of impact, but generally we're confident it will stand up to this.

q: Hi, we live on the side of an estuary, and we do get very high winds, would this be strong enough?
a: They're sturdy, but not designed for high-wind zones.

q: Can a shade sail be attached to the posts? We have an upper deck this would suit and are wanting a shade sail over the lower deck. Thanks in advance.
a: We generally wouldn't recommend it due to the high loads involved in tensioning the shade sail correctly.

q: It says that the rain drains through the legs from the gutter..are the legs lined with non rustable material to carry this flow or is the water basically draining into them so they could rust from the inside?
a: The frame is powder coated aluminium, so it's not an issue.

q: Do you have this type with the Louvres
a: No that's not an option we have.

q: We are concerned that it will get very hot under a roof covering such as this. We have experienced this and it was almost impossible to sit under the covered patio in the summer. Does your double polycarbonate panel prevent irradiated heat as well as uv light getting through.
a: Yes the twinwall polycarbonate helps keep temperatures stable thanks to the insulating air gap design.

q: Hi ,do you do this patio cover in white?
a: No we don't.

q: At what height is the wall mounting placed? The front poles being 243cm.. How much higher?
a: The centreline of the wall mount should be at 2760mm.

a: No we don't.

q: Sorry if this is dumb question but can these be attached to a shingle roof?
a: Not without quite a lot of work - they need to mount to a solid, flat, vertical surface (like the side of a house), that can take the load. You could go through the roof to something more solid underneath, but this would be a fairly major undertaking.

q: How much light will be blocked by polycarbonate?
a: They have a UV50+ rating but light transmission is 90%.

q: Hi, is it possible to redirect the water from the roof to a water tank via from only one of the posts ( i.e: block the others?) And how would you connect the pipe to to the tank from the base of the post?
a: Yes it should be easy enough to block the outlets (although we don't know if this will be adequate for heavier rain with only one outlet). You could drill and tap a fitting into the bottom of the post or similar.

q: Can the twinwall sheets come in a darker shade or just clear?
a: Just the clear option at this stage.

q: How well would stand up to strong northeasterly wind gusting?
a: They're pretty sturdy (check out some of our customer reviews on this and other sizes) , however they are not designed specifically for what an engineer would classify a high wind zone.

q: Is this suitable for homes at the beach?. It gets very windy at times. Also will it stand up to the sea spray and the salt air?
a: The frame is powder coated aluminium, so it wont rust. However it's a tough environment for polycarbonate panels etc. They're pretty sturdy (check out some of our customer reviews on this and other sizes for an idea) , however they are not designed specifically for what an engineer would classify a high wind zone.

q: Can the posts be attached to concrete or grass/dirt, or just wooden decks?
a: You can definitely attach them to concrete, however soft ground would not provide enough stability so we wouldn't recommend it.

q: Can the front posts be shifted back or offset to fit on a smaller deck ie a deck that is only 2.7 wide
a: Not really, as the front bar and posts are an integral unit with guttering and down pipes integrated. However you could cut the length of panels and roof supports down from the house side to get an overall length of 2.7m.

q: Can I do away with your front posts and install on a wall inside the three mitres , ie can I fix through the extrusion that holds the poly roofing in place. I will keep the end beam in place.
a: Yes this should be ok. The front bar is also the gutter, with water then running down the inside of the posts and exiting at the foot. So you would need to come up with a solution for this. If you give our sales team a call they'll be happy to send you the manual.

q: Could you join two of these together to cover 12M x 3M?
a: You could install them side by side, however they are not designed to join together.

q: Hi can the high side be lowered so the angle of the roof is less?
a: Yes there is a bit of wiggle room, however the fall as standard is 5 degrees, so not a huge amount.

q: I'm building a wooden deck, half-metre off the ground. Piles and structural beams are done already. What supports are needed for under the three poles. Can they just go on the decking timber or do they need structural beam under them? Also where and how does the water come out from the internal system? Does it cope with heavy downpours.
a: The feet bolt directly to the deck, reinforcing under the deck with extra material would be sensible, but you shouldn't need to add a structural beam. The water comes out at the feet of the posts, we haven't have any feedback complaining about the drainage capabilities, so it's definitely fine for most situations.

q: Our pergola is 2.65 cm high. we would like to put the patio cover over the pergola. What will be the height of the structure on the opposite side of the wall-mounted side, where the legs are, once all assembled?
a: The posts are 2.43m high to the front bar, so unfortunately it wouldn't be straight forward.

q: Sorry if this is shown and i have missed it - the fixing to the house/wall etc - what sizes is the plate/beam along here - asking as to ascertain if i can fit under my existing gutter or what other modification to house i would need to make this attach - cheers

q: The wall mounted unit, can the side that attaches to the wall be fixed to the soffit under an eve. I have a single storey home and it is only 2.2m from deck to soffit and is brick veneer wall.
a: Yes it can, however your soffit will need to be reinforced appropriately behind using timber. We'd recommend getting a builder to advise on the best way to do this.

q: Is it possible to move the centre post or take out completely
a: The posts have an internal downpipe that connects to the integrated gutter at the front of the cover, so the position is essentially fixed. You could relocate and block the downpipe hole, however the post is there for support, so moving or removing it could affect the strength of the structure. So while possible, the end result would not be covered by our warranty.

q: Are you able to supply this item already shorten to 2.4m in height and if so what is the additional cost.
a: Unfortunately not these are sold as pre-packaged kitsets, any additional modifications are up to the installer.

q: My deck is 6m*2m is there a product to fit or can this product be modified to fit but there will be an overhang?
a: You could modify the depth, however this would require a lot of cutting, including of the polycarbonate panels, and isn't covered in the instructions. As such, the end result would be dependent on the skills and know-how of the installer and would not be covered under our warranty.

q: Hi mate, do you require Council permission to install it ? Up to how many square meters please? Thanks

q: Can these be trimmed down to suit? Ie Trimmed down to 5.6m wide instead of the 6?
a: Some of our customers have shortened the height of these, with good results. But we don't recommend trying to shorten the length of these.

q: Is it possible to install in a corner? Would it still be waterproof along both edges?
a: Yes you can, you may need to install a flashing if you wanted to seal one of the sides against your building, unless it is under an eve.

q: How does it attach to the wall? We have Palisade boards. Can it be attached to that? How does water flow off?
a: Yes, you can attach to your palisade weather boards with the fixing screws which are included. The roof is slightly angled forward and there is a gutter which spans the front of the roof which drains to the ground via an internal down pipe inside one of the front legs.

q: Hi, is it possible to reduce the height by simply cutting the base of the poles?
a: The posts are able to be shortened by cutting them down in length, you would have to re-drill the holes for the screws which attach the foot plate to the legs though. This is kind of modification is not covered in the manual and we recommend making sure that whoever does this work is competent and confident in doing so as we cannot cover this under warranty if mistakes are made.

We love our Patio Cover, it enables us to use more of our space in wet weather. The internal guttering on the leading face is brilliant. No splattering off the roof-line as it is drained via the 3 vertical columns. I wouldn't recommend erecting this to an unskilled do-it-youselfer, the clear panels were a bear. There was some creep as we inserted them and the last two I thought we might break the buggers! Overall its a great asset to our lives at a reasonable cost, thank-you 'Trade Tested'!

The product was delivered on time. The instructions were straight forward and I managed to erect it by myself with just a little help from my wife. We are both really happy with how it turned out. I ordered the ironsands colour expecting it to be black but it wasn't, it was similar to Dulux colour Mt Inaccessible which is a dark brownie/greenish colour.

Very impressed. However the erection of the patio was very challenging as the pre drilled screw holes are not aligned, some even non existent. I had to use drill extra holes. Fitting the awning onto the frame was another hurdle as the spacing of the in between framing members are not accurate, causing problem in fitting the awning onto the frame. It is the detailing that is the let down, otherwise it is a good product. Trade Tested please improve on the QC.

The product is everything it says it is. You need two people to assemble and at least one of them should be tall - my some helped and he is 6'3". There are foil tapes supplied to cover the lower end of the plastic sheets to stop water creeping in. I recommend sealing both end with silicon for a better result.

This product is not easy to install and the instructions are not clear or helpful in places. Contenes list shows dyna bolts as M8 but they are actually M10 (purchased wrong size drill bit) There is minor scratching and bent rails due to strapping and transport. The perspex sheets do not simple drop into place as per the instructions they are very tight and I am struggling with the last 4 sheets.

Arrived in really good time from purchase. Unfortunately, the front and back supports were bent from the delivery process. I responded to Trade Tested satisfaction email and explained to them about the damage caused during transit, but the response email from them washed over the issues raised with no resolution offered. The installation of the shelter was simple enough if you are a good DIY'er.

Great product, I was able to shorten the front poles and lower the entire gazebo by 255mm to fit my application, and still plenty of head room. It only required a hacksaw and a drill. The only minor complaint is that it came only with Dyna bolts to fit to concrete walls and pad, I had to buy stainless coach screws to fix it down to my deck and wooden fascia. Also check your package on delivery before signing...Toll freight had dropped it and bent the main aluminium extrusion, took me an hour to panelbeat it back into shape.
