q: Hi there, I need to drill quite long horizontal holes into the face of a bank for an engineered retaining wall. I'm happy to get extensions sorted but wondering if this machine will run well in the horizontal position for prolonged periods?
a: It's 2-stroke, so yes it should be fine.

q: Good morning, I am in the process of designing and enlarging the existing play ground area at our school, I will need to instal over 100 posts to support the perimeter seating. The school is in Levin in the Manawatu where the ground is full of varying size river stones which make hand digging very difficult. My question is would this Post Hole Borer be suitable for my purpose?
a: Yes this would do the job. Smooth round river stones will not be a problem, although this is obviously size dependent to some extent.

Great machine but had a problem with the on/off switch which would not switch off. The wiring to it is very delicate & exposed & appeared to come loose. It was a simple fix to reconnect using heavy duty slide-on spade connectors. It works a treat even in hard clay. I wished I’d bought one many years ago. It would also be great if an extension was also included in the kit but I was able to buy a couple of these elsewhere.

This post hole borer has been a godsend for digging the holes for our native restoration project. My husband dug 700 holes in about 4 hours. It even copes with medium sized rocks.

Had been wanting to get a post hole borer for some time and this one is a little beauty. Digging holes is no longer a chore. Works well although the off switch gas failed but can stop motor with the choke.

Engine starts well, and operates to my satisfaction. Only issue that I can see is that the tyne blades look a little flimsy, One is fixed to tyne in two places but one only once. I fear should you hit an underground rock or root it may snap off. A second fixing point for this tyne would be great. More use should show if this is really is an issue

We purchased one of these Hyundai Post hole Borers recently, The unit is of great quality, easy to start, has plenty of power and is agile to use. An extension would be an advantage as an option at purchase, but we went to a local transport engineer who manufactured 1x 500mm extension and 1x 250mm extension for a small fee. Worthwhile getting this done, allows for deeper holes for fencing etc. My son is a landscaping apprentice and uses the borer to dig holes for planting of shrubs, trees etc. in firm ground, he loves it!! Highly recommend this tool and Trade Tested!!

Very grunty little engine, high quality build. I just wish they would include a 400mm extension so we could bore down to 1 meter. Starts easily and all controls function well. Would give it 5 stars if it had the 400mm extension!

More than happy with the purchase. Bought initially for speeding up the digging of a cable trench, as I could not get a small digger into the area. It performed well in the soils of Rolleston. It was obviosly never going to lift large rocks, but worked well with stones up to about 60 mm.

Does what it says on the box. Our ground is mainly clay and it chews thru it, 100mm auger first then the larger ones otherwise it grabs and locks up.

I’ve hired these before and always struggled so this has become one of those things I wish I’d bought ages ago. It starts very easily every time and then it just goes on and does what it’s meant to do. Highly recommend.

Very happy with the purchase of the post hole borer. It is more powerful than what I thought it was going to be. I did break the tooth off the large borer when I hit a buried object, but nothing a welder couldn't fix.

good device works well with lots of power. augers have welded chisels on the end so I can see that when they wear, it won't be easy to replace them, but it will be quite a few holes before that happens

2019-08-07T19:47:50+00:00

Have used this machine a number of times now, for putting in fencing posts, strainer posts with the extension and for planting trees. I have found it very easy to start, easy to manoeuvre around. Because it is high revering, it breaks the soil up and doesn't clog the auger. I have drilled through damp clay with no problems at all. Having used a number of post hole borers over the years, I would rate this as number one

Worth its Price Tag

2019-03-12T13:54:05+00:00

For the price tag - I never expected a commercial machine. The 200mm auger broke one of the cutting blades in the first hole and after about 20 holes it started spitting flames from the exhaust. Once it cooled down it took a bit to start and it was away as normal. Im happy with the purchase.

Instructions said to grease gears using grease nipple. But no grease nipple. Not sure gears will last long with no lubricant. Said also there was a spare spark plug but was not included. Used once worked OK but seems pretty average build quality for a name brand like Hyundai.
