Awesome machine tons of grunt. Only thing full stroke finishes about 80mm from backing plate makes it difficult for stringy logs.

Well built, works very well. would have liked the cutting edge to travel closer to end stop. Has trouble fully splitting some wood like gum. No problem on most other wood. Would also like to see a guard in front of motor to stop damage if wood falls down gap off platform. All in all grate machine. Would recommend.

Great machine, very heavy though. Make sure you have lifting gear or plenty of big guys around to put it together. Otherwise works well, fast and instructions followed a perfect sequence.

My new log splitter arrived in a nice box, was easy to assemble with great instructions. I couldn't wait to start it up and split some logs and when I did it performed fantastically. Really easy to use. This is a great item and well worth the investment.

This item has some positives and some negatives. By way of background I have used a 30T Canadian log splitter for the previous 12 years. Negatives: (i) there is far too much weight forward towards the tow hitch, meaning that it is very difficult to handle (move to back of quad etc.) as designed. I fixed by removing the foot and adding a jockey wheel,(ii) the engine (which is fine) is mounted directly on a metal platform that is welded to the main reservoir, with no vibration damping. At full revs the engine vibrations resonate with the ram section and make it unusable. However the unit operates very effectively on 4/5th throttle without the excessive vibration. It needs small engine vibration mounts to isloate the engine from the frame. I am still on the hunt for some that fit without too much effort - hard to find becuase there is only about 20mm to play with before the motor top would hit the ram, (iii) some minor parts show that they have been made by unskilled Chinese labour, e.g. cap on reservoir is turned out off centre; split pin hole in axle way off line. The main operational parts (ram, rail and reservoir seem to be welded up and operate fine). Positives: Plenty of grunt and works fine, incl on very dry very knotty macrocarpa that I am currently using. Equally as good in the pure splitting side as the Canadian one I have used for 12 years. Ergonomics are fine too, though I preferred my previous one. (BTW, assembly is a bit of a pain if you do not have an engine lift or similar, becuase one has to lift and hold up quite heavy main section to put axles on). All in all though I am happy enough and I reckon you can do worse than this unit for the price. Don't forget that it comes with a sweet briggs and stratton motor. A lot of other models have inferior motors. This one should last (touch wood)!

Now I've given it a good go, I'm upgrading previous review from 3 (based on needing a hoyst to assemble) to an over all 4. Works well, happy. Would be a 5 if it came assembled and had jockey wheel. I have added one already.
