Absolutely thrilled with my purchase. Have used to trim the top off a large Willow Tree with no problems at all. Feels really safe working up a tree with instant stop/start of battery powered unit. Very impressed by the battery life per charge.

Good for what it is

If you are thinking of this as a heavy duty performer then think again. This product does what it is intended for and does it to an acceptable standard. The best thing is being able to cut out small trees and shrubs without having to stop and restart. It is lighter than the equivalent petrol model and it also cuts firewood, branches etc easily. The battery (in my case a 2.0) life is quite acceptable for an oldy like myself. The battery also works well with my Greenworks Hedge Trimmer and my Greenworks Tiller!! One thing though: you'd think if you were selling a product in NZ you would include a manual written in English and not Indonesian! Fortunately the manual is on-line.

I previously had a 20 inch Echo that was big and noisy and frankly far more than I needed. This little sucker goes through wet and dry wood easily and is quiet and so easy to start. Definitely recommend for someone who wants the benefit of a chainsaw without the noise and pollution.

Good for first-timers

Was too unfit to use a bowsaw on my firewood so after reading lots of reviews and youtubes settled on this puppy. Lets cover set up to usage. Firstly I'm a complete novice with chainsaws this is the first I've owned and used. Setting up. The instructions were insufficient and I had to go to the Greenworks site and watch a few vids as I just couldn't work out how to stop the chain from slipping off. Eventually I found a youtube comment which explained how to fit the bar over a small pin first. The manual did not show how to do this. Using. This felt a lot safer to use than I imagined, it's reasonably light and shuts down quick. It easily cut through logs and lasted about 20 mins on the battery charge (which was about 15mins longer than I lasted using a bowsaw). I noticed it has a tendency to gently spit oil at me, I'm trying not to take it personally and remind myself lube will be lube. Adding oil is a bit of guesswork as the indicator plastic was more opaque than transparent, but judging my the oil splattering back at me I guessed it had enough. Overall. I'm really happy with this chainsaw, looking forward to taking down a tree with it for next year's firewood. This is my third GreenWorks tool and I suspect I'll end up with the whole set eventually. Good value for money and very good for first-timers. Totally recommend it!

This is a great little chainsaw. It easily cuts through small logs of 150mm plus and the 4AH battery keeps it going for 1.5 hrs plus.

Very happy with my purchase of Greenworks 12" Chainsaw. I have never used a chainsaw before and found this so easy to operate. Cuts easily through branches, that my other equipment; struggled with. Now I have a nice load of firewood. Hard to see how much oil is left, so just top up every now and again.

60+ female and this is just what I needed. Had battery and charger from my GrWks Mower and shell was cheap. Only thought is that chain blades seem a bit far apart..bumpy cut and needs steady hands

Am loving this chainsaw. It is light and easy to use cutting through some good size trees easily. Th only thing I don't like is that you can not see how much oil there is as the container is not clear and also rather fiddly to fill.

Having health issues, this chainsaw has given me life again. Just get to take it out, cut down a few branches for a few minutes and then clean up. No hassle stuffing around with a petrol unit that refuses to start and having to take all day to cut up wood.

Excellent chainsaw on nearly all counts. At over 65yrs I can handle it easily. Cuts like a dream and battery lasts for ages even when firewood cutting. The fast charger takes the length of time of a coffee break. My only gripe is that the chain oil reservoir is a bit awkward to fill and is so opaque that I can not see the oil level and have to peer inside.

Bought this to topple some small trees in our garden, son loves it. Not loud, works like a dream, no messy petrol, just press a button and it goes. Takes about 40 mins for the battery to run out then just charge it up and go again later! Fantastic chainsaw.

bought this chainsaw as I am very much a senior, very surprised at power this little saw has, cuts through a reasonable size branch, also battery lasts longer than I do, impressive little saw, no mixing fuel no pulling on starter cord, very lightweight, totally recommend this saw.

A good light weight chainsaw. Is going well. The battery won’t charge until it cools down, is the only draw back. Recommend buying a bigger battery and faster charger. I will do later.

Magnolia Butcher Blenheim

40V 12" battery chainsaw

Early days yet but it appears to be the perfect suburban chainsaw - keep the battery charged, the oil tank full and it's ready to go at the pull of the trigger. Cut through a 10 inch Magnolia branch without drama. Battery (2.0Ah) life seems adequate for most jobs around the section.

An outstanding powerful little chainsaw, did all the work that I had planned so far with the additional blessings of no petrol and no cables to cut through!I did manage to hit a piece of metal which threw the chain, but was easily repaired using instruction sheet.

Quite a handy little saw. Not quiet, definitely need ear muffs. oil tank is impossible to see through unless you put in dark colored oil. Cuts well, charges quickly, reasonably powerful but does tend to kick a bit on smaller branches. As good as can be expected for the price .

Great Little Saw

When I first tried this chainsaw it was very jumpy on branches which I found very unsettling. We ended up taking to our local chainsaw shop & replaced the chain which has definitely fixed the problem. The original chain teeth are very spaced apart which contributed to the jumping. Works great now 1 star off for chain.

I bought my battery chainsaw to cut firewood to size on the odd piece I may have miscalculated on in the field, not wanting to fire up the noisy petrol in town. It does a great job, has handled everything I've thrown at it, the battery lasts well and charges quickly.

A very serious and versatile chainsaw, my old petrol and 240v chainsaws have been made redundant, the GMax is so light and handy for overhead positions and general carting around the farm. Can not believe how long it runs on a full charge battery.
