This cabin has a floor area under 30m², this means it is exempt from the consent process when added to your property as a structure for ancillary use. Please see our 'consent information' button below for more information.

Construction Points:

A good foundation is the key to guaranteeing the longevity and quality of your cabin. Only a completely level, rectangular foundation and bearers will ensure problem-free installation of the cabin.

The floor must be a minimum of 50mm off the ground, preferably more. The underside of the floorboards and the joists should be painted thoroughly and care taken to ensure enough airflow under the house. We recommend using Malthoid DPC between joists and the ground.

Your chosen site must be levelled and compacted to minimise ‘settling’. We recommend using strip or spot foundations, concrete foundations or pavers or a cast concrete bed.

If unsure consult with, or have the foundation prepared by a specialist.

Q:
Hi, Is there any insulation included with the cabin? If not, can it be fitted to make it really cosy?
A:
There is no insulation included. You could insulate by adding batons, insulation and a liner (jib, ply etc). The chalet-cut logs are 44mm thick and the product is designed for and manufactured in Northern Europe - so depending on your location and intended use you may not require insulation.

Q:
Just wondering if you can choose what side the door is on. As in the first picture shown it is how we would like it on the right, but i see that other photos and the plan it shows the door on the left.
A:
Yes you can switch it, you just need to install the beams the other way round.

Q:
Which garden house is for sale. There are 2 pictured.
A:
They are actually all the same, this cabin comes with window trim that you can choose to use or leave off. It comes unpainted, so you can choose your finish/colour - we have a picture of a painted cabin as an example.

Q:
Can this plan come with the flat angle roof line as shown in the other plans?
A:
No, the cabins come as a kitset and all the timber is pre-cut, you would need to look at the 'Lisa' and 'Lea' designs for the flat angle roof.

Q:
Hi, what is the roof made of? Iron or tiles? Thanks
A:
The roof as it comes is tongue & groove boards covered by roofing felt, however if you wanted to use other material it would be fairly straightforward.

Easy assembly

With foundations already in place the cabin itself took 3 of us a full weekend to assemble and we are stoked with the final result. We’re building a deck out the front and putting a tin roof on top so there still some work to be done. We’ll most likely be buying a second one of these in the near future.

Stoked with finished product

Our cabin is perfect as a kids lounge room/guest space. Great product, easy to put together and good quality.

I love my office cabin so much

This is my purpose-built, off-grid office. It's such a beautiful space. Hardware is a bit flimsy but the wood itself is top notch and what a great result for the price. We added a solar power system and water tank as well as a deck to soak in the views. Very happy with the overall result.

Loving our cabin now that it's together

We found the cabin quite easy to put together once we got going, though the instructions we're quite vague in some areas. Note there is no roofing included in the price so we had to buy shingles as well. The cabin is stained using CD50 Hickory with two coats. We're absolutely loving the size of the cabin and the acoustics is going to be amazing as we're using the room as our music room.

Extra space

Great idea for that extra room that every household needs. I’ve added a bath and it’s become a guest room or ? Great DIY project or call your local contractor, it can be completed in as little as a week.

The office retreat

Product was super easy to put together, two of us managed to get the cabin constructed in a single day! Surprisingly warm with the double-glazed windows, we did add a heatpump and underfloor insulation which was a nice addition in the winter months. Roofing sheets and window joinery (the lock arms only) was the only part that let the cabin down, we ended up replacing with tin corrugate and new hardware. Makes for a nice office retreat!

Iris man shed

The shed is a great size, builder was impressed with how well it all went together. A great finished product, seems good quality. Our German Shepherd seemed to think it was going to be an awesome new kennel at one stage! Looking forward to fitting it out!

Read Instructions and then GO!!!

A great way to add to your home without having to apply for consent. Make sure you unpack the kit, read the instructions and lay out what you will need first (on a fine day) and then go for it. We had the foundation ready when the pack arrived and so it was straight forward to put it up in around 4 days, with tea and lunch breaks. A good product for a good price. Thank you Trade Tested.
