Whether you’re a keen organic gardener, an earth-conscious home-maker, or an average Kiwi family looking to go a bit greener, a handy compost bin is a must-have for any backyard. Recycling your kitchen waste and grass clippings through composting is a cost-effective way to boost the quality and microbiota of your soil, making your garden more productive and easier to work with.

This 435L bin is a great size for busy kitchens or hungry gardens. Designed for easy use, the large top lid allows easy access, but closes securely to keep in odours and keep out insects and animals. The bottom doors lift up on each side, so you can easily scoop out your compost or let in extra air. Side vents in the body give optimal air circulation, for faster composting.

Built for the outdoors, it’s durable and weather-proof, so your compost stays warm and damp, without getting soggy in the rain. Made from 90% recycled plastic, the bin is also UV protected, so not only will the beneficial bacteria in your compost be safe from sunlight, your bin will last for years out in the elements. Q:
Which compost bin is better for normal home use? Does this one have a main advantage or disadvantage over the other turning barrel one?
A:
Both are excellent for home use. The tumbler creates compost faster, this one has a larger capacity.

Compost Bin

A good product. goes together well and is sturdy. The llid's locking clip is a bit hard to navigate, but I think it is because it is new. A very good product, a good size too, would definitely recommend.

Accurate

Bin assembly was easy Bins look good I purchased 4 at same time One 'closing handle' broke within 2 weeks of assembly Another is not so good (not lining up well with bin loaded) Design is great but 'closing handles' need design review (Maybe something simple)

Good

Very good. We use them for our composting toilet waste. The biggest one available on the market in the country as far as I know and they are good. Will buy another one in the future.

Compost Bin

love these bins - best on the market at the $$

Compost bin

Easy to assemble but don’t do it inside as it will not fit through some doors Good size will take awhile to fill

Does what it says.

It’s a large, square bin with a flip top lid. Happy to take all my garden compost without quarrel. The flip top lid will hopefully prevent the flying lid situation that Wellington wind offers on a regular basis - much to the annoyance of the neighbours - and weirdly eventually led to the complete disappearance of the previous lid....perhaps will be found in another galaxy one day. So far so good. New lid remains in place. It was relatively easy to put together (although I’d recommend doing it in the garden as it was quite large to maneuver out of the house and into position once we’d constructed it....yes, should have known better).

Aerated Compost Bin 435L

Easy to assemble, instructions could be more complete. the lid latch does not hold well as the bin expands in the heat/sun and releases have to put a weight on lid to keep it down,

Good

Put together ok but lid doesn’t stay shut- not sure if it’s because ground a bit uneven the red “latch” thing needs improving?
